Since dancing has become a regular amusement in pleasure seeking circles, it is suggested, according to the rules of dancing etiquette, that gentlemen without gloves, will not touch a lady's dress without first protecting it with the handkerchief, as delicate dresses are often ruined in this manner.—Morning Press, 1881
